How You Can Help
The beauty of OpenSource is that You do not have to be some kind of Super Human with hacker-background to be allowed to contribute to Emilda, You do not even have to be a programmer. In fact, what Emilda at its current stage needs badly is the human approach to testing, i.e. we want You to test the functionality and comment on quite frankly anything. Besides testing You are most welcome to do e.g. one of the following:
Test the installation procedure
This is for the slightly more advanced user. It would be extremely informative to hear comments from someone concerning the installation procedure; is it hard, easy or impossible? Since the installation procedure has only been tested internally in the Development team, outside commenting is probably the most informative right now.
Translate Emilda to other languages
Currently Emilda is available in English and Swedish, but it has been designed to support virtually any language using the Gettext backend. We deeply appreciate if someone finds the time and effort to port Emilda to his/her native language. Please join the translators mailing list for more instructions.
Finance development
If You have interest in the project and possibly want to have certain features present before taking the system into use, it is possible to Finance development and as such get the development going faster and maybe even focusing on some of Your special requests.
Test the Emilda Demo and comment
You are also welcome to test the Emilda Demo and comment both pros and cons and in case You find one, report a bug.
Spread the message
Due to the low age of Emilda, it is imperative that the message of a "New OpenSource Library Management Tool" has to be spread. If You know someone who is considering a library management tool upgrade, then please inform him about this alternative.
Invite us to preach
Especially if inside Finland or Scandinavia, a demonstration of the system might not be out of question.
Or become a preacher
If You would like to become an Emilda-"Agent" to spread the word in Your areas and manage local support, please do contact us for further details.
Last, but not least; become a developer
If You have knowledge in PHP (or want to get some) or knowledge in library standards and library management (or want to get some of these too), You are most welcome to join the Team. You can do this by joining the Development list. The demand for reinforcement is stadily growing and as such, each devoted minute is most welcome.
If You feel the immediate urge to contribute to Emilda, please find the time to subscribe to the Development list and informing us on what You have planned to tackle.
